Big Success in Sukma: 5 Naxalites Arrested, Huge Cache of Explosives Seized

Sukma (The Uttam Hindu): In a major breakthrough against Naxalism, Chhattisgarh Police and CRPF in a joint operation arrested five Naxalites in Sukma district. A large cache of explosives was seized from their possession. The action was carried out on September 2 in Raoguda, Kistavaram, and nearby forest areas under Chintalnar police station limits.
The arrested Naxals have been identified as Madvi Rakesh (26), Kamlu Deva (46), Kuharam Budhra (40), Madkam Muya (19), and Kawasi Pozje (19). Among them, Madvi Rakesh, a member of Jarguda LOS, carried a reward of ₹1 lakh on his head. The others were associated with militia and DAKMS wings of the Naxal movement.
Security forces recovered 20 crackers, 10 gelatin rods, 10 non-electric detonators, 10 meters of Cordex wire, electronic magnets, batteries, chargers, and other explosive materials. During interrogation, the accused admitted that the explosives were meant to target security forces.
The operation was led by Chintalnar Police Station In-charge Inspector Vimal Vatti along with CRPF’s 74, 131, and 223 battalions, RFT Konta, and senior CRPF officers Nishant Vaishnav and Suman Saurabh. The CRPF 131 Battalion intelligence wing played a crucial role in tracing the rebels.
A case has been registered against the arrested Naxals under Sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act at Chintalnar Police Station. All accused were produced before the special court and later sent to jail. Senior officials praised the team’s success, calling it a major step in curbing Naxal activities in Chhattisgarh.
