Dehradun (The Uttam Hindu): During the ongoing Chardham Yatra, a tragic helicopter crash occurred on Thursday in Uttarkashi district. According to initial reports, five people have died and two passengers were injured in the accident. The seven-seater helicopter reportedly crashed near Gangotri. Police, administrative officials, and the disaster management team have reached the site and are conducting a rescue operation.

Police, army personnel, disaster management QRT teams, and 108 ambulance services have arrived at the scene. The Tehsildar of Bhatwari, the BDO of Bhatwari, and the revenue department team have also been dispatched to the site. The helicopter crashed near the Bhagirathi River, below the Nag Temple, past Gangani.

The helicopter belonged to a private company named AeroTrink and was carrying seven people. Two passengers were injured in the crash. Notably, the weather in Uttarakhand has been poor for the past few days. The Meteorological Department has issued thunderstorm and rain alerts in several districts. Scattered showers and hailstorms with thunder have been reported along various sections of the Chardham Yatra route.
