Shortcut to the USA in Budget? Trump Hints at a New Golden Visa Scheme for Aspiring Indians

New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): Former US President Donald Trump’s proposed “Golden Visa” program, which promises US residency to foreign investors for a $5 million (approx ₹40 crore) investment, has ignited massive interest among wealthy Indians—even before its official launch.
According to immigration experts, Indian professionals in tech, finance, and healthcare, especially aged between 28–45, are actively seeking information about this elite immigration route. Interest has soared particularly among Indians residing in the Middle East and other affluent global hubs.
Despite no legal framework backing the program yet, the registration page has already attracted over 70,000 sign-ups, requesting only basic details such as name and contact info.
“Nearly 50% of inquiries are from Indian HNIs abroad,” said Sukanya Raman of Davies & Associates immigration firm. However, legal experts caution that the "Golden Card" currently looks more like a marketing strategy than a legally binding offer. There’s no clarity on tax benefits, processing timelines, or how it compares with existing visa routes.
Immigration consultant Rajneesh Pathak noted that clients are asking whether the Golden Visa will impact the current EB5 investor visa, which requires a lower investment. “Until there's legal structure and tax relief, EB5 remains the safer and valid option,” he said.
Some fear that the Golden Visa may eventually replace or overshadow EB5, prompting a surge in EB5 applications. Experts suggest both programs might coexist, but until then, most investors are sticking to established routes like EB5, H-1B, or National Interest Waivers. Currently, Trump’s Golden Card program only features a notification form, allowing interested parties to register for updates.
