“I Saved India from Nuclear War in Just 5 Hours”: Trump’s Shocking Claim

Washington (The Uttam Hindu): Former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again claimed that he personally stopped a major war between India and Pakistan during his tenure. According to Trump, he used the threat of scrapping trade deals and imposing massive tariffs to force both sides to step back.
Sharing details of the alleged talks, Trump said:
“I spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a wonderful man, and asked about Pakistan. Then I spoke to Pakistan. There was tremendous hatred on both sides. I told them: if you don’t calm down, I’ll impose tariffs so big that your head will spin. Within five hours, it was all quiet.”
He even added, “Maybe it will start again. I don’t think so, but if it does, I will stop it.”
India Rejects the Claim
India has repeatedly dismissed Trump’s statements, clarifying that the tension de-escalated only after direct talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of the two nations. Officials insist that “Operation Sindoor” was merely postponed, not ended due to Trump’s interference.
Timing of Trump’s Statement
Interestingly, Trump’s fresh remark comes right before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, where nearly 20 global leaders are expected to participate.
Analysts believe Trump’s claim could be aimed at influencing India’s diplomatic image and global equations at a critical time.
