Washington (The Uttam Hindu) : US President Donald Trump has given a controversial statement regarding the Russia-Ukraine war. He has said that perhaps it would be better if the two countries keep fighting for some time. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has appealed to the US to increase pressure on Russia.

While meeting Marx at the White House, Trump said, "There is a deep hatred and a sense of revenge between them, so it is difficult to expect a ceasefire in the near future. They are constantly fighting. Just like in sports, referees let the players fight for a while, sometimes it is okay to let them fight for a while."

German Chancellor Merz urged Trump that America should play a decisive role in ending the war and put more pressure on Russia. He said, "America is in a position to end this war. Trump wrote this on his social media site Truth Social. He launched a scathing attack on both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying, "I am not happy with Putin's actions. I don't know what has happened to Putin."
