Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): The Punjab Police has made a swift breakthrough by arresting a suspect in less than 24 hours in connection with a chilling threat made against Udayveer Randhawa, son of Congress MP and former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa.

The accused was apprehended from Amritsar on Saturday after Udayveer allegedly received a life threat on social media. His father claimed that not only was his son threatened by jailed gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, but he was also targeted in a firing incident shortly after the threat.

Sharing the alarming development on social media platform X, Randhawa wrote, “Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, who is lodged in jail, has threatened to kill my son. Just an hour after one of my associates met my son, shots were fired at him.” The Congress leader, currently in Delhi for the Parliament session, strongly condemned the deteriorating law and order in Punjab and held CM Bhagwant Mann and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal responsible.

Leader of Opposition and senior Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa also voiced his concern, calling it a complete collapse of governance. He questioned how a jailed gangster could threaten elected representatives and warned that if lawmakers aren’t safe, ordinary citizens are even more vulnerable. “Is this the ‘change’ AAP promised—where criminals rule and citizens live in fear?” he posted.

Bajwa further accused the AAP government of turning Punjab into a playground for gangsters, while Kejriwal remains engaged in hollow propaganda. “This is not just a security lapse; it’s a wake-up call. The people of Punjab deserve answers,” he said.
