UP ATS Cracks Down on Religious Conversion Gang, Baba Fooled 1,500+ Women, Had Network from Maharashtra to Dubai

Uttar Pradesh(The Uttam Hindu): In a major crackdown on religious conversion rackets, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested Changur Baba alias Jamaluddin and his associate Neetu alias Nasreen from Balrampur. The duo has been booked under charges of anti-national activities and illegal religious conversions, with shocking revelations emerging in the aftermath.
According to the ATS, over 1,500 Hindu women were allegedly converted to Islam through deception, manipulation, and false promises. Many of his followers were reportedly women, raising concerns about the targeted exploitation behind the conversions.
Investigations reveal that before operating in UP, Changur Baba had established a strong network stretching from Maharashtra to Dubai. He reportedly worked with international groups focused on religious conversion agendas, particularly those based in Gulf countries.
Interestingly, Baba began as a street vendor selling rings outside a Mumbai dargah. Gradually, he gained influence and expanded his conversion operations across various districts. After settling in Balrampur, he allegedly aimed to change the region's demographics by promoting large-scale religious conversions.
ATS sources claim that some local intelligence and police officials were bribed to turn a blind eye to his activities. Two years ago, a similar case was registered against his relatives in Azamgarh.
The court has granted 7-day custody of both Baba and Nasreen to the ATS. During this period, officials from the IB and NIA will also question the accused to uncover deeper links and funding sources behind the racket. The case has sparked widespread outrage and calls for a deeper probe into such religious exploitation networks operating under the radar.
