India’s First Sleeper Vande Bharat to Roll Out Before Diwali, Faster and More Luxurious Than Rajdhani

Prayagraj(The Uttam Hindu): Indian Railways is set to deliver a festive bonanza for passengers this Diwali, as the country’s first-ever sleeper Vande Bharat Express is all set to hit the tracks. Designed for both luxury and speed, the train will operate between Patna and New Delhi, with halts at Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Prayagraj, and Kanpur Central—making it a major gift for travelers from the holy Sangam city.
According to railway sources, the semi-high-speed sleeper train will begin operations just before Diwali. Scheduled to depart from Patna at 8 PM, it will reach New Delhi by 7:30 AM, covering the journey in 11 hours 40 minutes—almost an hour faster than the existing Rajdhani Express, which takes 12 hours 30 minutes.
Capable of touching speeds of 180 kmph, the train has already successfully completed its trial run. Given its premium facilities and faster service, ticket prices are expected to be 10–15% higher than Rajdhani Express.
Equipped with state-of-the-art safety and comfort features—including CCTV surveillance, LED screens, automatic doors, fire safety systems, and real-time passenger information displays—the Sleeper Vande Bharat promises a completely new travel experience for long-distance passengers. The train’s rake has already arrived at Delhi’s Shakurbasti depot, confirming that the countdown for its grand launch has begun.
