Vighnaraj Sankashti Vrat 2024: Date, Puja Vidhi, Significance & Timings Revealed

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The sacred Vighnaraj Sankashti Vrat will be observed on September 10 (Wednesday) during the Krishna Paksha Chaturthi of the Ashwin month. According to the Panchang, the Chaturthi Tithi will begin at 3:37 PM on September 10 and end at 12:45 PM on September 11. As per Udaya Tithi, the fast will be kept on September 10.

Planetary Position:

The Sun will remain in Leo.

The Moon will stay in Pisces till 4:03 PM and then move to Aries.

Significance of Sankashti Vrat

The word Sankashti means the remover of obstacles. It is believed that worshipping Lord Ganesha on this day eliminates troubles, hardships, and obstacles from life. Mothers observe this fast for the long life and good health of their children.

Puja Vidhi (Rituals):

Wake up in Brahma Muhurta, take a bath, and wear yellow clothes.

Clean the worship place and offer Durva grass, vermilion, and red flowers to Lord Ganesha.

Offer Boondi laddus— five to Brahmins, five at the deity’s feet, and distribute the rest as Prasad.

Recite Ganesh Stotra, Atharvashirsha, and Sankat Nashak Ganesh Stotra.

Chant “Om Gan Ganapataye Namah” 108 times.

In the evening, feed a cow with fresh grass or jaggery.

Moon Offering (Chandra Arghya):

At night, devotees offer water to the Moon while chanting—

“Simhika Garbhasambhute Chandramandal Sambhave, Arghyam Grahana Shankhena Mama Dosham Vinashaya.”

It is believed that observing Sankashti Vrat helps in removing planetary afflictions, debt troubles, and brings prosperity and peace in life.
