Violent Unrest Erupts in Pakistan as Minister’s Residence is Set Ablaze Amid Widespread Vandalism

Islamabad (The Uttam Hindu): A mob attacked the house of Pakistan 's Sindh province's Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanzar and set the house on fire. The mob vandalised the house and the security forces had to use mild force to control the situation. The protesters who attacked the Home Minister's house had arrived with guns. There is an atmosphere of tension in the entire area.

The protesters targeted the minister's residence located in Moro town near the National Highway and also set fire to two trailers parked nearby. During this, two protesters were killed and more than a dozen people, including a DSP and six other policemen, were injured in a clash between the police and the protesters.

The Pakistan government plans to build six canals on the Sindh River to strengthen the irrigation system in Cholistan. The local people are angry with this. They say that the government is taking away their land and water. When the protesters tried to sit on a dharna on the national highway, the police tried to stop them.
