Sydney(The Uttam Hindu): In what passengers are calling a "humiliating nightmare at altitude," a Virgin Australia flight from Bali to Brisbane turned into a traumatic experience when all onboard toilets malfunctioned mid-air, forcing travelers to relieve themselves in bottles.

The incident occurred last week aboard a Boeing 737 MAX 8, during the final three hours of the 6-hour journey — a time passengers describe as "a descent into chaos, discomfort, and stench."

“Pee in Bottles or Over Waste” — Crew’s Last-Resort Instructions Spark Outrage According to The Australian, the situation spiraled when the aircraft's remaining functional toilets broke down mid-flight. The flight had already taken off with one lavatory out of order due to pre-flight maintenance issues.

As the remaining restrooms failed, urine odor began spreading across the cabin, adding to the distress. One elderly woman reportedly lost control and urinated on herself, leading to emotional breakdown and public embarrassment.

In a shocking revelation, a passenger shared:

“The crew told us to either pee into bottles or use the already soiled toilets. It was degrading. People were crying, holding it in pain.”

Virgin Australia Responds with Apology and Compensation Offer Facing backlash, Virgin Australia issued a public apology, stating:“We sincerely apologize to our guests for the discomfort and thank our crew for managing the situation professionally.” The airline also announced flight credit compensation for all affected passengers. However, many flyers are demanding stricter safety and maintenance protocols before the situation escalates further.
