Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Champions Agriculture and Livestock Development at Pusa Event

New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, participated in two programs held today at Pusa, New Delhi, and called for the protection and strengthening of the agriculture and livestock sector. On this occasion, he distributed animal breed registration certificates and honored scientists, institutions, and livestock breeders for their outstanding work in breed conservation.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Shivraj Singh said that livestock is a strong foundation of our lives and the village economy. Shri Chouhan said that Indian breeds are not only limited to production but are also our cultural heritage. He appreciated the scientists of ICAR and NDRI, saying that these institutions have given new dimensions to the breed conservation campaign since 2019.

Union Minister Shri Chouhan said that such ceremonies should be held among the public so that it inspires farmers and instills a sense of pride in them. He also requested the media to prioritize constructive news so that the country receives the right inspiration.
Bhoomi Pujan for a new hostel and academic building at IARI
Giving a new gift to daughters on Makar Sankranti, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan performed the Bhoomi Pujan and laid the foundation stone for a new hostel and academic building at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Pusa. He said that the construction of this hostel will provide modern and safe facilities to 300 girls.
Need for improvement and competition in agricultural education
Shri Chouhan said that farming is not a compulsion, but a field of innovation and opportunity. He suggested that a grading system should be implemented for agricultural universities and colleges to promote quality education and create a healthy competitive environment. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that a large number of young women are now pursuing agricultural education, and the innovations of the new generation (Gen-Z) are giving a new direction to the agricultural sector.

Calling for timely and quality construction, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, at the foundation stone laying ceremony, said that the construction work should be completed within the stipulated time so that the inauguration can take place soon. He instructed the contractors and officials to focus on both quality and speed.

In both programs, Mr. Chouhan said that the confluence of Indian culture, science, and modernity will empower the agriculture and livestock sectors. He appealed to farmers, scientists, and youth to work together to protect the land, agriculture, and livestock.
The program was also attended by ICAR Director General Dr. Mangilal Jat and IARI Director Dr. C. Srinivas Rao, along with other senior officials.
