Vande Bharat sleeper: India's game-changing train to rival Rajdhani Express, boasting 160 kmph speed and luxurious amenities

New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): A new chapter will soon be added to the Indian Railways fleet. The Railways is now in final preparations to launch a sleeper version of the "Vande Bharat" train to make long-distance travel more comfortable. According to reports, two of the 10 train sets manufactured by BEML will be launched soon.
Additionally, Kinet, an Indo-Russian joint venture, has been awarded a large order for 120 Vande Bharat sleeper trains. Kinet has also released the first images of the highly anticipated train's First AC sleeper coach, revealing the train's impressive features.
The Vande Bharat Sleeper trains are designed as a direct alternative to the Rajdhani Express. They feature comfortable and spacious seats similar to the Rajdhani Express, but with upgraded amenities.
What will the train be like from the inside?
Keeping passenger comfort in mind, these sleeper coaches feature well-cushioned berths. Each seat is equipped with a bottle holder, a snack table, and compact luggage storage. The train's interior has been modernized; the stairs to the upper berths in the First AC coaches have been redesigned and conveniently, with "smart storage" underneath for small items like phones and books. Additionally, each passenger will be provided with personalized amenities like personal reading lights and USB charging ports, making the journey even more convenient.
According to reports, the Vande Bharat Sleeper train is being designed for a maximum speed of 180 km /h, with an operational speed of 160 km/h. Like the chair car versions, these trains will also feature a self-propelled system, reducing the time required to accelerate and decelerate, thus reducing the overall travel time.
Production will begin in Latur
Production of these sleeper coaches, manufactured by Kinet, will soon begin at the railway factory in Latur, Maharashtra. The railway plans to operate 200 such sleeper trains in the future, which could transform the face of long-distance travel on Indian Railways.
