The sudden demise of his son, Agnivesh Agarwal, has devastated him. Amidst this profound loss, Anil Agarwal has reiterated a decision that has won everyone's hearts. He has announced that he will donate more than 75 percent of his total wealth for the welfare of society. He said that he will now dedicate the rest of his life to this cause and will live an even simpler life.

Resolve to fulfill the promise made to son

In a deeply emotional post, Anil Agarwal revealed that he had promised his son, Agnivesh, to give back a significant portion of his earnings to society. He said, "Most of what I have earned should be used for social work." His son's passing has only strengthened this resolve. According to Forbes, Anil Agarwal and his family have a combined net worth of approximately $4.2 billion (approximately Rs. 35,000 crores).

The son died of cardiac arrest

Anil Agarwal's son, Agnivesh Agarwal, died of cardiac arrest at the age of 49 while undergoing treatment in the United States. For a father, there's no greater sorrow than carrying the funeral pyre of a young son. Expressing his grief, Anil Agarwal wrote that he and his wife, Kiran Agarwal, are devastated. However, he also said that every employee in the Vedanta family feels like his own children, and they are providing him with support during this difficult time.

Who is Anil Agarwal?

Anil Agarwal is a self-made businessman whose story exemplifies rags-to-riches. Born in Patna, Bihar, in 1954, Anil began working as a scrap dealer with his father at a very young age. At just 19, he moved to Mumbai to pursue his dreams. Despite facing numerous setbacks and losses, he never gave up and founded the Vedanta Group in 1976. Today, Vedanta is one of the world's leading companies in the mining, oil, metal, and power sectors.

Daughter Priya is handling a big responsibility

Anil Agarwal's family includes his wife, Kiran Agarwal, who has always remained out of the limelight. His daughter, Priya Agarwal, now holds significant business responsibilities and is the chairperson of Hindustan Zinc. The late Agnivesh Agarwal also served on the board of Talwandi Sabo Power Limited, a Vedanta subsidiary, and founded Fujairah Gold.

'My son's dreams will not remain unfulfilled'

Anil Agarwal said that he and his son share the same dream: to make India self-reliant. He wishes that no child in the country should sleep hungry, everyone should have access to education, and women should be empowered. He added emotionally, "Life is incomplete without my son, but I will not let his dreams remain unfulfilled."
