Bengaluru man's gold coin nightmare: ₹1 coin swaps 5-gram gold in swiggy instamart order

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Amid the growing popularity of online shopping, cases of fraud and wrong delivery of goods are not stopping. The latest case is related to the quick commerce platform Swiggy Instamart, which has sparked a debate on the internet. A customer was shocked when he ordered a 5 gram gold coin sitting at home, but when the delivery box was opened, instead of gold, a simple coin of just Rs 1 was found in it. The video of this incident is rapidly going viral on social media, which has once again raised questions on the security of ordering valuable items online.

The victim shared his ordeal on the social media platform "X," stating that he had ordered a 5-gram gold coin through Swiggy Instamart. The customer, being prudent, recorded the entire video while receiving the delivery and opening the package. The video clearly shows that upon opening the box, the gold coin was missing, replaced by a 1 rupee coin. Fortunately, the customer was spared the loss due to the video evidence. He updated the post, stating that after the complaint, his order was canceled and the company refunded the full amount.
Following this incident, cyber experts and knowledgeable people are advising people to be extra cautious while shopping online. Experts say that when ordering expensive items, always choose the option of 'open box delivery' or open the parcel in front of the delivery boy and make a video of it. If the outer box of the parcel is damaged or the tape has been tampered with, then do not accept it. If you have a video of the unboxing as evidence, then not only is it easier to get a refund from the company, but if necessary, the case can also be strongly presented in the consumer court.
