Devuthani Ekadashi: Beginning of all auspicious events; Tulsi Vivah holds special significance

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Dashami Tithi of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of Kartik month will last until 9:11 am on Saturday. After this, Ekadashi will begin. On this day, the Sun will be in Libra and the Moon will be in Aquarius. According to the Drik Panchang, Abhijit Muhurta will begin at 11:42 am and last until 12:27 pm, and Rahukaal will begin at 9:19 am and last until 10:42 am.
Devuthani Ekadashi falls on Saturday. The Skanda and Padma Puranas specifically mention Devuthani Ekadashi, which states that on this date, Lord Vishnu awakens from a four-month yogic sleep and begins governing the universe, and that auspicious activities begin in every home afterward.
Devuthani Ekadashi is also known as Devotthan Ekadashi, and in some regions of North India, Tulsi Vivah is also celebrated on this day. According to scriptures, worshipping Tulsi and performing a marriage ceremony brings the same merits as donating a daughter in marriage, and observing the fast brings good fortune and success to all endeavors.
To perform the puja on this day, wake up early in the morning and after performing your daily rituals, clean the place of worship and sprinkle Ganga water on it. Also, wear yellow clothes on this day. Now, mix ochre with cow dung and create footprints for Lord Vishnu at the place of worship and offer fresh seasonal fruits. Now, prepare the donation items, including grains and clothing, separately.
Light a lamp and perform aarti for Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. While ringing the conch and bell, chant the mantra "Utho Deva, Baitho Deva" to awaken all the deities. Offer Panchamrit (sweet offerings). If you are observing a fast, donate to a Brahmin during the breaking of the fast on the next day.
