Drunk son kills his mother, shocking reason revealed
Birmingham (The Uttam Hindu): The court has sentenced Indian-origin Surjeet Singh to life imprisonment for brutally murdering his 76-year-old mother in Birmingham, England. According to the verdict, Singh will have to spend at least 15 years in jail before being considered for parole.
During the hearing at Birmingham Crown Court, it was revealed that this horrific incident happened due to a minor dispute over the television remote. Intoxicated Surjit Singh attacked his mother Mohinder Kaur in September last year, which led to her death. Singh has confessed his crime.
Detective Inspector Nick Barnes, from West Midlands Police, described the incident as a "senseless murder" and said: "This incident has torn apart a family and our thoughts are with those affected."
According to information, Surjeet Singh used to take care of his widowed mother in Soho area of Birmingham. He told police in custody that he lost his balance when his mother scolded him for being drunk. Singh said, I had no intention of doing this. I just lost my balance.
According to police, Mohinder Kaur died due to injuries caused by multiple stab wounds, but it was not clear whether any weapon was used in the attack.
