Why was the girl targeted?
According to Hyderabad police, the accused woman, Lakshmi, worked as a cleaning staff at the school. The girl's mother is a bus conductor at the same school. At dismissal time, the girl's mother had gone out to drop students home, while the girl was waiting for her mother on the school premises. Preliminary investigations revealed that Lakshmi feared the girl's mother might jeopardize her job. There had been a dispute between the two for some time, which led the woman to vent her anger on the girl. A local recorded the entire incident on camera and provided it to the police.
The victim's mother filed an FIR against the accused. Police subsequently arrested Lakshmi. Officials stated that the school had never previously received any reports of violence against students. Police said they were investigating every aspect of the incident, including whether the school management followed safety standards.
