New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) - Due to a prolonged drought, the economic situation in the Anantapur and Cuddapah districts of the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh has been continuously deteriorating. Taking advantage of this situation, traffickers lure poor women and girls here with the dream of employment and send them to Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and even Gulf countries. Many non-governmental organizations claim that this trafficking network is active in many countries, including Saudi Arabia. A woman trapped in this trap has revealed the painful truth of her life.

The victim, who identified herself as Parvati, is a mother of two. After her husband was paralyzed, the responsibility of the family fell on her alone. To support the family, she went to Saudi Arabia to work, but there she was treated in a way she never imagined. Parvati says that a local broker lured her with promises of good salary and secure work, but upon reaching Saudi, she was sold to a family for several lakh rupees. Initially, she was kept in a house for a week, but later she was sent to a place where her life turned into a horrific captivity.

The woman said that a 90-year-old man tried to rape her in the house, but she escaped. The next day, the owner's son tried to rape her. He burned her body with cigarettes. He forced her to listen to the people living in the house. She said that she had to sleep with a boy who was her son's age. While he raped her, his father was showing her pornographic videos on his mobile phone. They didn't feed her for a week, and she had to drink water from the bathroom tank. They wouldn't even leave her alone during her period. Guests who came to the house also exploited her. They made her work as a maid during the day and exploited her at night. When she told this to her broker, he said, "You have been sold for five lakh rupees."

I decided to leave that house and speak out against them. Eventually, they released me, and with the help of the police, I was able to reach India. Parvati was freed from Saudi Arabia in 2016.
