iPhone 17 mania: People travel overnight, some reach stores at 2 in the morning
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Tech giant Apple recently launched the iPhone 17 series for its users. Sales of this new iPhone series began in India on Friday. Consequently, Apple's BKC store across the country was crowded with shoppers. The company's new model, the iPhone Air captured the attention of customers.
Apple CEO Tim Cook posted a photo of the BKC store on Instagram showcasing the store's overall decor. The photo shows a large billboard displaying the iPhone 17 Pro on one side and the iPhone Air on the other. Speaking to media, iPhone 17 series buyers expressed their excitement about their purchases.
One customer said they had already purchased the iPhone 17 Pro Max while another said they arrived at 2 a.m. to purchase the new iPhone in Cosmic Orange. They called this new iPhone color "amazing."
"I bought the iPhone 17 Pro Max on the very first day. It was a great experience and availability was good. Apple has introduced something new this year," said one buyer. Another Delhi resident, who came to Mumbai to buy the latest iPhone 17 series, shared his experience. Another customer said he arrived at 6:30 a.m. and bought two iPhones. Apple employees at the Mumbai-BKC store welcomed the first customers with applause and cheers.
Similar celebratory displays are expected at other major locations across the country. Over the past several years, Apple executives, including Cook, Greg Joswiak, and Deirdre O'Brien, have celebrated the launch of new iPhones at Apple's Fifth Avenue store in New York City. Apple launched the iPhone 17 on September 9 featuring a new Center Stage front camera, a 48MP Fusion main camera with optical-quality 2x telephoto and a new 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera.
The company claims that the 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion is larger and brighter. With the new Ceramic Shield 2, the front cover is said to be stronger than ever, with up to three times better scratch resistance than the previous generation. For improved performance, the phone comes with the latest generation A19 chip.
