Puri(The Uttam Hindu): A major security breach rattled the sacred premises of the world-renowned Shri Jagannath Temple in Puri early Tuesday morning, after a young man was caught inside the temple complex with a high-tech spy camera disguised in his eyeglasses.

According to sources, the man—identified as Abhisit Kar from Gajapati Nagar—entered the temple pretending to be a regular devotee. Unbeknownst to others, he had fitted a miniature surveillance device into his spectacles. The device was reportedly advanced enough to transmit live video and images directly to his mobile phone in real-time.

Suspicion arose when security personnel stationed near the Singhadwar (main gate) noticed unusual behavior from the man. Upon questioning and thorough inspection, they discovered the hidden spy camera embedded in his glasses. The temple’s armed security team quickly intervened, detained the man, and handed him over to the Singhadwar Police Station for further investigation.

Police officials confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect is being interrogated intensively. Authorities are now probing whether the man succeeded in capturing photos or videos of the sanctum sanctorum or any other restricted areas inside the temple. His electronic devices are currently undergoing forensic examination.
