London (The Uttam Hindu): In July, 39-year-old Adam Lopez, a resident of Norfolk, London, suddenly experienced a change of fortune that made him the talk of the town. Formerly a driver, he won $1.3 million (approximately ₹11 crore) in a scratch-off lottery. Until a few weeks ago, he had only $17 in his bank account, but his life changed completely after winning the lottery.
After winning the lottery, Adam quit his job and went on a three-month spree. He explained that he was enjoying life to the fullest for the first time, but gradually went down the wrong path. He completely immersed himself in the glamour of money and fun.
Laborer wins 11 crore rupee lottery, then parties for 3 months straight; now admitted to ICU: In September, his health suddenly started deteriorating. Adam told that he started having trouble breathing and even walking became difficult. He immediately called an ambulance and while being taken to the hospital lying on a stretcher, he got the biggest shock of his life. Doctors found on examination that Adam had blood clots in both his lungs. The blood clots had reached his lungs from his legs, which posed a serious threat to his life.
He was immediately admitted to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, where he remained for more than eight days. Adam praised the hospital staff, saying they were like angels to him for giving him life again. Adam described this experience as a major life lesson. He said he knew the fun would end one day, but not like this. It served as a warning to him.
Adam says that whether you have a million or a trillion, money is useless when you're lying in the back seat of an ambulance. He's now focused on his health and recovery, aiming for a full recovery within the next six to nine months. He also admitted that quitting his job was a big mistake. He said that decision robbed him of his rhythm.
