Alwar (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking case from Rajasthan’s Alwar district has exposed a chilling tale of betrayal, crime and a twisted love affair. Police have arrested a woman, Archana Arora, and her alleged lover Rishabh Sharma for plotting the murder of her husband, a bank officer. Archana has been sent to judicial custody, while Rishabh is on police remand for further questioning.

According to police, Archana, married to Jaipur-based bank officer Karnav Khatri since 2018, came into contact with taxi driver Rishabh during frequent trips between Govindgarh and Jaipur. What began as regular travel soon turned into a close friendship and eventually an illicit relationship. The two allegedly decided to live together, leading to Archana eloping with Rishabh in September 2025, taking along her younger son, ₹5 lakh in cash and jewellery worth lakhs.

The case took a dramatic turn when Archana briefly returned home in December and filed a rape case against Rishabh, only to later withdraw it and reunite with him. Police said tensions escalated when Rishabh allegedly threatened Karnav over a call and later attempted to kill him in March 2026 during a trip to Jaipur.

Investigations revealed that Archana also sent a threatening letter to her husband, demanding ₹50 lakh and warning of dire consequences if the demand was not met. She allegedly threatened to kill him and his mother and abandon the children. Acting on Karnav’s complaint and evidence, including audio recordings, police laid a trap and arrested both accused bringing the shocking conspiracy to light.
