Retired excise officer’s house raided; Rs 10 crore assets, gold bars and film investments found

Gwalior (The Uttam Hindu): In a major crackdown on corruption, the Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta Police raided various locations of retired District Excise Officer Dharmendra Singh Bhadauria. This action, based on a complaint of disproportionate assets, has so far uncovered movable and immovable assets worth approximately ₹10 crore in the name of his family.
Lokayukta Police Deputy Superintendent (DSP) Sunil Talan said the raids were conducted simultaneously at seven locations linked to Bhadauria in Gwalior and Indore. The investigation revealed that the retired officer and his family owned properties in Gwalior and Indore, as well as in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh.
What was found in the raid?
According to DSP Talan, the investigation so far has revealed assets worth ₹8 to ₹10 crore belonging to Bhadauria and his family. During the raid, the team recovered approximately ₹1.05 crore in cash, approximately 1.5 kilograms of gold bars, and approximately 1 kilogram of gold jewelry. Additionally, three to four expensive vehicles were recovered from the family, and information about 7 to 8 bank accounts and lockers was obtained, which are being investigated. The investigation also revealed that the Bhadauria family has invested their money in films.
Dharmendra Singh Bhadoria retired on August
31st this year as the District Excise Officer of Alirajpur. The Lokayukta had received a complaint alleging that he and his family had amassed wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income. This action was taken after the complaint was verified.
The Lokayukta police are currently conducting a detailed assessment of all the assets of Bhadauria and his family. Officials say the figure may increase further once the investigation is complete and bank lockers are opened. Further legal action is underway in the case.
