UPI payment failure turns ugly; vendor grabs man’s collar, takes watch for a samosa

Jabalpur (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking incident has emerged from Jabalpur railway station in Madhya Pradesh, a video of which is rapidly going viral on social media. When a digital payment for a samosa failed, a vendor not only grabbed a passenger by the collar but also forced the passenger to remove his watch and hand it over so he could catch his train.
After the video went viral, the railway administration swung into action and took strict action against the accused vendor and detained him.
According to reports, the incident occurred on October 17th. A passenger purchased samosas from a samosa vendor on the train. When he tried to pay using PhonePe, the payment was blocked due to a network issue. Meanwhile, the train began moving. The passenger told the vendor he would pay later, but the accused vendor grabbed his collar and prevented him from boarding the train.
Seeing the dispute escalate and fearing he might miss his train, the passenger panicked and took his watch off his wrist and handed it to the vendor. Another passenger at the station filmed the entire incident and posted it on social media, which quickly went viral and reached the railway administration.
As soon as the video went viral, the DRM, Jabalpur, took immediate cognizance of the matter and ordered an investigation. Following the investigation, the accused vendor was identified. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has registered an FIR against him and taken him into custody.
The DRM office issued a statement stating that this incident is detrimental to the railway's image and that the accused vendor's license has been suspended with immediate effect. The railway has appealed to passengers to immediately report any illegal extortion or indecent behavior to the railway helpline 139 or the RPF helpline.
