Video Woman's Narrow Escape from Autorickshaw Robbers in Punjab goes Viral

Ludhiana (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking incident of robbery attempt has gone viral on social media, where a woman narrowly escaped the clutches of three robbers in an autorickshaw on the Phillaur-Ludhiana highway in Punjab. The incident occurred on September 9, near the Jalandhar bypass, when the woman, identified as Meena Kumar, boarded the autorickshaw to catch a bus from Phillaur.
Police say this woman showed remarkable courage on the Phillaur–Ludhiana highway as she foiled a robbery attempt inside a moving auto. Clinging to the vehicle to save herself, she triggered the auto’s overturn, leading to the arrest of 2 robbers.

The woman realized that the driver and two passengers were robbers, who attempted to tie her hands with a scarf and threatened her with sharp-edged weapons. However, Meena showed exemplary bravery, screaming for help and hanging out of the moving autorickshaw to alert passersby. Her quick thinking forced the auto to overturn, trapping the robbers inside.
Passersby quickly came to Meena's aid, nabbing two of the accused and handing them over to the police. Unfortunately, one of the robbers managed to flee the scene. The police have arrested the two suspects, identified as Mohit and Dimple Makkar, and are currently on the lookout for the third accused, Shubham.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) has confirmed the arrest and revealed that Mohit is already facing trial in three other criminal cases. The woman's bravery and the commuters' swift action have garnered widespread praise on social media, with many applauding Meena's courage and presence of mind.
