Viral Video Gets Tehsildar Suspended: Sang in Office Chair at Farewell

Nanded (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking case has come to light from Nanded, Maharashtra, where a Tehsildar has been suspended for singing a song in the government office during his farewell party. The video of Renapur Tehsildar Prashant Thorat singing a song while sitting on a chair went viral on social media, after which this disciplinary action was taken.
The matter is of August 8, when Tehsildar Prashant Thorat was transferred from Umri Tehsil Office of Nanded district to Renapur of Latur district. A farewell ceremony was organized for him at Umri Tehsil Office. During this, he sang a song while sitting on his chair and posted its video on social media himself. As soon as the video went viral, the matter came to the notice of senior officials.
After the video surfaced, the government ordered the Nanded District Magistrate to investigate the matter. The District Magistrate said in his investigation report that this act of Tehsildar Prashant Thorat has tarnished the image of the government and it is against the conduct of a government officer. Disciplinary action was recommended in the report. On the basis of this report, the Divisional Commissioner issued an order to suspend Prashant Thorat with immediate effect.
This is not the first time that action has been taken against a government official for violating the dignity of the post. Earlier also, many cases have come to light from different parts of the country like policemen and other officials making reels for social media while on duty, on which departmental action has been taken. After this incident, the debate has started once again that government officials should take care of the dignity of their post.
