Bijnor (The Uttam Hindu): A strange case of faith and curiosity has emerged in Nandpur village, located in the Nagina area of Bijnor district. For the past four days, a dog has been continuously circling the idols in the temple. Observing this mysterious behavior, villagers have accepted the dog as a divine form rather than an ordinary animal and have begun worshipping it. Bhajans and kirtans are now taking place in the temple premises, and people from far and wide are arriving to witness this spectacle.

Without eating or drinking, he kept visiting Hanumanji and Maa Durga

According to local people, this dog has been circumambulating the temple tirelessly for the past four days. For the first three days, he circumambulated the idol of Lord Hanuman and now he is circumambulating the idol of Goddess Durga situated in the temple premises. The surprising thing is that for the past four-five days, this dog has not consumed even a grain of food or water. People placed milk and bread in front of him, but he did not even smell it. After circumambulating for 24 hours continuously, he rested for about three hours on Thursday. The villagers have laid a mattress in the temple premises for his comfort, on which after sitting for a while, he again started circumambulating.

Devotees bowing their heads considering it to be the form of Bhairavnath

Seeing the dog's plight, the villagers' faith has surged. Large numbers of men and women are visiting the temple and bowing before the dog. Some villagers believe the dog is possessed by the spirit of a saint or sage, while others worship it as a form of Lord Bhairavnath. The crowd has grown so large that temporary shops selling offerings and toys have sprung up outside the temple, creating a carnival-like atmosphere.

Doctors said the head injury caused the loss of balance, but the villagers refused to believe it

Upon receiving information about this incident, a team of veterinary doctors reached the spot and examined the dog. In their report, the doctors clarified that due to the head injury, the dog's mental balance has been disturbed (neurological issue), due to which it is forced to move in circles in one direction. However, the local residents have clearly refused to accept this scientific logic of the doctors. The villagers argue that no creature can continuously circumambulate for so many days without eating or drinking despite the head injury; this is possible only due to some divine power. Currently, this temple of Nandpur village remains the center of a debate between superstition, faith and science.
