Barbaric Act: Woman Accused of Witchcraft Stripped, Head Shaved, and Brutally Assaulted

Hazaribagh (The Uttar Hindu): A shameful incident of brutality with a widow woman, accusing her of being a witch, has come to light in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand. The accused entered the woman's house, stripped her naked and beat her, cut several parts of her body with a blade to extract blood and performed Tantric rituals. After this, she was forcibly taken to Gaya in Bihar and her head was shaved. 30,000 rupees were also collected from the woman and her son in the name of witch-freeing her. The incident occurred in Jarhiya village of Barhi police station area of Hazaribagh.
The victim reached Barhi police station on Sunday night and narrated her ordeal, after which the police registered a case and started investigation. The woman said that on Friday evening seven people from the village came to her house and dragged her out accusing her of being a witch. Her clothes were removed. Then she was beaten and her body was wounded with a blade and blood was drawn. Tantric rituals were performed using the blood.
After this, the accused forcibly picked her up from her house. From Barhi, they took her to Pretshila in Gaya district and shaved her head. There also she was beaten up. The accused kept saying repeatedly that she was being freed from 'witchcraft'. In this name, 30 thousand rupees were also collected from the woman and her son.
The accused left the woman in Barhi market at around 10 pm on Saturday night and fled. Somehow she returned to her home. The scared and frightened woman mustered courage on Sunday night and lodged a complaint at Barhi police station. Police said that the accused have been identified. Raids are being conducted to arrest them. Police said that no accused involved in this inhuman act will be spared.
