Parliament's winter session set to begin from December 1-19: What's on the agenda?

New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): The Winter Session of Parliament is scheduled to commence on December 1, 2025, and will conclude on December 19, 2025. President Droupadi Murmu has approved the government's proposal to hold the session.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced the dates, expressing optimism about a productive session. "Looking forward to a constructive and meaningful Session that strengthens our democracy and serves the aspirations of the people," he said.
The session is expected to focus on legislative business and national development, following a monsoon session that saw the passage of several key bills. It is said that three to four new bills may be introduced in this session, covering issues related to electoral reforms, simplification of judicial processes and citizen convenience. Additionally, some older bills are also expected to be discussed and passed. The session may address issues like:
- Voter list revisions: Opposition parties are expected to raise concerns about alleged vote fraud cases.
- Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls: A contentious issue, particularly in Bihar.
- Economic reforms and national security: The government may face opposition scrutiny on these matters.
