New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : When we think of running, images of athletes, tracks, spikes, and lightning-fast humans emerge in our minds. But if you were told that a human could run on all fours, like a cheetah, on their hands and feet, it would be hard to believe. A Japanese man has achieved just that and recently entered the Guinness World Records. This story is not just about a record, but about human curiosity, passion, and a new perspective on fitness.

22-year-old Ryusei Yoneya of Tokyo recently broke the Guinness World Record for running on all fours. This feat may seem like the agility of an animal, but it is a unique example of human hard work, creativity, and passion. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Ryusei covered 328 feet (100 meters) in just 14.55 seconds. He completed the race on both hands and feet—that is, on all fours. His achievement surpasses the previous record held by Colin McClure of the United States, who completed the same distance in 15.66 seconds in 2022. This means Ryusei created history by running almost 1 second faster.

According to YoniA, he's been running on all fours since middle school. He credits his teacher, who told him that animals running on all fours can run faster. He says, "That made me think I could be the fastest person on all fours." This runner's inspiration came from dogs, cats, and monkeys! Strangely enough, he told Guinness World Records, "I prepared for this record by watching four-legged animals like dogs, cats, and monkeys run." Adapting his technique to running on a track took some time. "I trained mostly in sand. Tracks have a lot of rebound, which changed my running style."
