15 Members of a Nomadic Family Killed in Horrific Road Accident in Pakistan

Peshawar (The Uttam Hindu): In a tragic incident that has left Pakistan in shock, 15 members of a single nomadic family were killed when a speeding truck overturned on the Swat Motorway in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Thursday. The accident occurred near a tunnel in Malakand district, leaving the road drenched in blood and a family completely devastated.
According to a spokesperson from Rescue 1122 emergency services, the victims belonged to a nomadic family from the Jibral area of Bahrain Tehsil, Swat. The family was migrating seasonally from one place to another when the accident occurred. The victims include men, women, and children, making the tragedy even more heartbreaking.
Immediately after the crash, rescue teams and local police reached the scene and launched an urgent operation to pull out those trapped under the overturned truck. All victims were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Batkhela.
Doctors at the hospital declared 15 people dead on arrival, while eight others were critically injured and admitted for emergency treatment. Of the injured, four were reported to be in critical condition and were later shifted to a major hospital in Swat for advanced care.
This devastating accident once again highlights the alarming state of road safety in Pakistan, where poor infrastructure, lack of enforcement of traffic regulations, and unsafe vehicles have made deadly crashes a common occurrence.
Earlier this year, in July, a bus traveling from Islamabad to Lahore plunged into a ravine in Punjab’s Chakwal district after a tyre burst, killing nine people and injuring over 30 others. Similarly, in April, another road tragedy in Punjab claimed 11 lives, including several women and children.
Such repeated incidents underline the urgent need for stricter traffic laws, better road maintenance, and improved safety standards to prevent more innocent lives from being lost on Pakistan’s dangerous highways.
