Altaf Hussain Appeals to PM Modi for Justice to Muhajirs in Pakistan

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) – Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and India’s Operation Sindoor in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Pakistan allegedly attempted drone and missile strikes in retaliation, escalating tensions between the two nations.
In the midst of this rising tension, Altaf Hussain, founder of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and a Pakistan-born leader living in exile, made a significant appeal to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He urged PM Modi to raise his voice in support of the Muhajir community residing in Pakistan.
Hussain stated that the Urdu-speaking refugees, known as Muhajirs, who migrated to Pakistan after the Partition of India, have faced long-standing discrimination and injustice. He appealed to Modi to take this issue to international platforms.
Altaf Hussain accused Pakistan’s military and intelligence agencies of denying Muhajirs the status of legitimate citizens. He claimed that over 25,000 Muhajirs have been killed and thousands have been forcibly disappeared.
Praise for PM Modi’s Support for Baloch People
Hussain also praised PM Modi for his vocal support of the Baloch community, calling it a bold and morally commendable move, and expressed hope that similar justice would be extended to Muhajirs. He also alleged that the Pakistani consulate in Houston, USA, released a video labeling him and MQM as agents of India, calling it an attempt to silence the voice of the Muhajir people.
