Are attacks on Iran being launched from Indian bases? External Affairs Ministry reveals truth after US claim

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): India has strongly rejected claims that Indian ports and naval bases are being used by the United States to launch attacks against Iran. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described these allegations as baseless and false.

The controversy arose after former US Army colonel Douglas Macgregor made remarks during an interview with One America News Network (OAN). In the interview, he claimed that during the ongoing tensions with Iran, the US Navy had become dependent on Indian ports and naval facilities.

Macgregor also alleged that American military bases and port facilities had suffered significant damage, forcing the United States to rely on ports in India. He described the situation as far from ideal. However, the Indian government has firmly denied these claims.

The MEA’s fact-check account clarified on the social media platform X that the statements made on OAN are completely false and misleading. The ministry urged people to remain cautious about such fabricated and baseless comments circulating online.

The ministry further clarified that Indian ports and naval bases are not being used by the US Navy for any military operation against Iran.

This clarification comes at a time when tensions in the Middle East are steadily rising. India has expressed concern over the growing conflict in the region and has urged all sides to exercise restraint, avoid escalation, and prioritise the safety of civilians.
