New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The growing military tension between Israel and Iran in the Middle East has directly affected international air travel. Considering the security situation, Air India has suspended its flights to the Gulf region including Dubai, Doha, Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Muscat, Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv with immediate effect.

Tensions rise after Operation roaring lion

According to sources, Israel has launched ‘Operation Roaring Lion’ against Iran with support from the United States, while Iran has also responded with counter action. Due to the ongoing military activity, several countries have partially or fully closed their airspace as a precaution.

The seriousness of the situation became clear when Air India flight AI139 heading to Tel Aviv on 28 February had to return to India mid-journey.

The airline has suspended services on the following major routes:

Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the UAE

Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam in Saudi Arabia

Doha in Qatar

Muscat in Oman

Tel Aviv in Israel

The airline stated that operations on these routes will remain suspended until further notice.

Advisory issued by IndiGo

Private airline IndiGo has also issued a travel advisory, stating that it is closely monitoring the situation in Iran and the Gulf region. Flight operations may be adjusted immediately if required to ensure safety.

Appeal to passengers

Airlines have requested affected passengers to check their flight status through official websites or customer care before leaving for the airport. IndiGo has assured that any changes in flight schedules will be communicated via registered mobile numbers and email.

Airlines emphasized that the safety of passengers and crew remains the highest priority, and services will be reviewed once the situation stabilizes.
