Bangladesh (The Uttam Hindu) : Neighboring Bangladesh is currently gripped by serious political unrest and violence. The recent assassination of radical leader Osman Hadi sparked violence in the capital, Dhaka. Meanwhile, another high-profile shooting incident has further escalated the situation.

According to reports, unidentified gunmen attacked a senior leader associated with the student-led National Citizen Party (NCP). Motaleb Sikder, the Khulna divisional chief of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), was reportedly shot in the head on Monday. The bullet grazed the left side of his head and he was hospitalized in critical condition and is undergoing treatment.

Violent protests erupted across the country last week following the death of Osman Hadi. Hadi was known for his anti-India rhetoric and made headlines during the 2024 Bangladesh student uprising. His killing sparked incidents of arson, vandalism, and clashes in several cities .

Tensions Rise Ahead of General Elections

Bangladesh is preparing for its first general elections since the formation of an interim government. According to the official schedule, the elections are scheduled for February 2026. As the elections draw closer, reports of violent protests and attacks on minorities, particularly the Hindu community, are increasing in various parts of the country.
