Bangladesh violence: Hindu youth killed, body mutilated in mob attack

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : Amid ongoing violent protests in Bangladesh, a serious and worrying case of extremism has emerged. A Hindu youth was allegedly beaten to death by a mob in Bangladesh's Mymensingh district. Following the incident, his body was reportedly tied to a tree and set on fire, spreading panic throughout the area.
According to Bangladeshi media reports, the deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Dipu Chandra Das. He was accused of insulting Islam, following which an angry mob attacked him. According to eyewitnesses, protesters were chanting religious slogans during the incident. The young man later died and his body was set on fire.
This incident comes at a time when violent protests are ongoing in several areas of Bangladesh following the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, a prominent leader of the July uprising.
