Washington (The Uttam Hindu): A major incident at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has caused a stir within the organization. Two senior BBC officials, Director General Tim Davie and Head of News Deborah Turness, have resigned. These resignations stem from a scandal involving US President Donald Trump.

In fact, on Monday, The Telegraph published a report claiming that two parts of President Trump's January 6, 2021 speech on the BBC program Panorama were edited together. The Telegraph stated that the edited clip appeared to suggest that Trump had incited the January 2021 Capitol Hill riots. This speech was given after Trump's defeat in the 2021 presidential election.

The BBC aired this edited clip just a week before the 2024 US elections. In his post-defeat speech, Trump had said, "We will all go to Capitol Hill and cheer on our lawmakers." In the edited clip, Trump says, "We will go to Capitol Hill, and I will be with you all. We will fight, and we will fight with all our might."

Regarding this entire matter, US President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social, "Top BBC officials, including boss Tim Davie, are all resigning/being fired because they were caught "doctoring" my excellent (perfect!) speech on January 6th. Thanks to The Telegraph for exposing these corrupt "journalists."

The US President further said that these are extremely dishonest people who tried to step on the scales of the presidential election.

Announcing his resignation, Davie said, "Like all public organizations, the BBC is not perfect. We must always be transparent and accountable. However, leaving this job is entirely my personal decision. I have made some mistakes, and as Director General, I take full responsibility for them," according to a statement posted on the BBC website.
