Kabul (The Uttam Hindu): Tensions have once again escalated between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Taliban government has issued a stern warning to Pakistan regarding the increasing clashes and firing along the border. The Taliban have stated that if Pakistan does not cease its "provocative actions," the situation could worsen.

Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement that repeated shelling and border violations by Pakistan were undermining peace efforts between the two countries. He said, "Peace cannot be sustained by Pakistan's actions. Afghanistan is ready to take every step to protect its citizens and its borders."

According to reports, there have been several incidents of gunfire along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border (Durand Line) in recent days, resulting in civilian casualties on both sides. According to local media reports, Pakistan has claimed increased terrorist activity from across the border, while the Taliban has dismissed these allegations as "false," blaming the Pakistani military.

Experts say the long-standing border dispute between Afghanistan and Pakistan has flared up again. This is the same area where Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) activities have increased over the past several years, posing security challenges to Pakistan.

Internationally, the dispute has also raised concerns, with several countries urging both neighbors to exercise restraint and resolve the dispute through dialogue.

The Taliban's statement comes at a time when Pakistan recently ordered the expulsion of illegal Afghan nationals from the country, further straining relations between the two countries.
