Washington (The Uttam Hindu): US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel said that investigators have found DNA evidence from the crime scene against Charlie Kirk's alleged killer Tyler Robinson, linking him to last week's incident. Patel said, "We have found DNA on a screwdriver found on the roof and on the towel in which the gun was wrapped." He further said that the rifle is being examined at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) laboratory in Maryland.

The FBI director also said that the suspect's family has collectively told investigators that he was a follower of 'left-wing' ideology. This had increased over the past few years. According to the agency, right-wing activist and influencer Charlie Kirk was shot dead in front of an audience at Utah Valley University on Wednesday while he was speaking at an event.

About 33 hours after the incident, the 22-year-old suspect was arrested in Washington County, Utah after relatives identified him from photos released by investigators. Utah Governor Spencer Cox said Friday that a family member of Robinson contacted a family friend, who informed the Washington County Sheriff's Office that Robinson had confessed to them.

Utah's governor said in an interview on NBC on Sunday that interviews conducted by investigators with Robinson's friends and relatives showed he had left-wing ideology that differed sharply from his conservative family.

Though he is a registered voter, state voting records show Robinson is not affiliated with any political party and indicate he did not vote in November’s presidential election his first since turning 18. His parents are both registered Republicans.
