Beijing (The Uttam Hindu): In a major leap for the tech world, China has claimed to develop the world’s first 6G chip, which is reportedly 5,000 times faster than current internet speeds. This breakthrough could enable ultra-high-speed internet even in remote and rural regions, potentially narrowing the global digital divide.

According to South China Morning Post, this revolutionary 6G chipset was developed jointly by researchers at Peking University (Beijing) and City University of Hong Kong. Dubbed an "All-Frequency 6G Solution", the chip is capable of transferring 100 GB of data per second. In simpler terms, a 50GB 8K movie could be downloaded in just one second.

The chip is extremely compact, measuring just 11mm x 1.7mm, and operates across the entire wireless spectrum — from 0.5 GHz to 115 GHz.

However, despite the excitement, experts have raised concerns: The use of high-frequency bands may increase the risk of electromagnetic radiation, potentially harmful to human health. With billions of devices connecting at ultra-high speeds, the risk of cyber attacks and data privacy breaches may also rise significantly.
