China warns US against interference: 'America should not meddle in our affairs' amid Iran tensions
China has urged restraint and calm following the US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing the need for political and diplomatic solutions to the conflict

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The war-like situation and tension between the US and Iran has once again reached its peak. After the peace talks held in Pakistan remained inconclusive, both countries are launching sharp attacks on each other. While US President Donald Trump has announced a major blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, Iran has also issued a retaliatory warning regarding oil supplies. Now China has also made a direct entry into this entire geopolitical dispute. After Trump's threat of heavy tariffs on China, the Dragon has become nervous and has openly stood in support of Iran. China has warned America in clear words, saying that it should not interfere in their mutual affairs.
Trump's 50% tariff warning infuriates the Dragon
US President Donald Trump is making increasingly tough decisions regarding Iran these days, which are directly impacting not only Iran but also China. Recently, intelligence emerged indicating that China is providing military weapons to Iran. President Trump responded strongly to this, stating that if China is caught providing military assistance to Iran, the consequences will be severe. He warned that a massive 50 percent tariff would be imposed on China if this occurs. This threat of economic shock has increased China's anxiety, and it has adopted a tough stance.
'Iran controls Hormuz, our ships will keep coming and going'
Amidst the US President's threats and the announcement of a blockade, Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun has strongly defended Beijing's position. He said that China is fully committed to peace and stability in the world and is closely monitoring the current situation in the Middle East. The Chinese Defense Minister, in a stern tone, sent a message to the US, saying that Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz and it is open to them, hence Chinese ships are continuously coming and going there. He clarified that China has trade and energy agreements with Iran, which it will respect and expects no other country to interfere in their affairs.
America kills two birds with one stone, a major blow to China with the blockade
Following the failure of peace talks in Pakistan, the US has taken this aggressive step of blockading the world's most important sea route for oil trade. According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), on President Trump's orders, a blockade of all maritime traffic connecting Iranian ports in the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman began on Monday (April 13). However, US forces will not obstruct ships traveling to and from non-Iranian ports. This decision is likely to severely impact China's energy supply, as it is the world's largest buyer of Iranian oil. Previously, Trump had also dealt a severe blow to China by imposing restrictions on Venezuelan oil. Therefore, it is believed that by taking action against Iran, Trump has actually targeted China, directly jeopardizing its energy security.
