China's peace initiative: Offers to help improve relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): China welcomed the temporary ceasefire between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban, saying the move is beneficial for peace and stability in both countries and the entire region. A Chinese spokesperson also offered a unique solution to the conflict.
"We have noted the decision to implement a temporary ceasefire between Pakistan and Afghanistan," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Thursday. Lin Jian said China hopes Pakistan and Afghanistan exercise restraint, resolve differences through dialogue and move toward lasting peace. He also said China is willing to play a "constructive role" in improving relations between the two countries.
It should be noted that the situation between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban has been tense for the past several days. Several soldiers have been killed. Following the Afghan airstrike in Kabul, the Taliban launched retaliatory attacks on Pakistani positions. Pakistan suffered significant losses in these attacks, and several of its soldiers were taken hostage by the Taliban.
