Donald Trump rejects reports of tanker fees in Strait of Hormuz, says deal misrepresented
Trump denies reports of oil tanker fees in Strait of Hormuz, saying agreement terms are being misrepresented.

Washington (The Uttam Hindu): Donald Trump has accused Iran of violating the ceasefire understanding by restricting the movement of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz and warned against imposing any transit fees. In a social media post, Trump said the situation was not in line with what had been agreed upon, expressing concern over reports that only a limited number of vessels were passing through the crucial route.
Reacting to claims that Iran may be charging fees on tankers, Trump said such actions were unacceptable and must stop immediately if true. His remarks come amid rising concerns over global energy supplies as the Strait of Hormuz remains a vital passage for oil shipments. The comments indicate renewed tensions despite the ceasefire, although no immediate US action has been specified.
Iran, however, has maintained that safe passage through the Strait is possible under specific conditions. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that ships would be allowed to pass in coordination with the Iranian military and within technical limits. Experts believe this reflects Iran’s consistent position on managing traffic through the route.
The Strait of Hormuz, connecting the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea is one of the world’s most important oil transit corridors. Any disruption in this region can have a direct impact on global oil prices and supply chains. Countries like India, which depend heavily on crude imports, closely monitor developments in the region as prolonged instability could affect energy security and economic stability.
