New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): US President Donald Trump, during his State of the Union address, said that the country has witnessed unprecedented change over the past year. He stated, “We will continue to improve. This is America’s golden age.” Trump said that when he last addressed the House 12 months ago, he had inherited a nation in crisis.

According to Trump, the economy at that time was stagnant, inflation was at record levels, borders were open, and recruitment in the military and police forces was weak. He claimed that crime was at its peak and the world was facing wars and instability. The President asserted that within one year, his administration has delivered historic transformation.

He said, “Today I can proudly say that we have achieved a turnaround unlike anything seen before. It is truly a turnaround of the ages.” In his speech, Trump described Venezuela as a new friend of the United States. He also termed the decision of the Supreme Court of the United States declaring certain tariffs illegal as unfortunate.

Trump stated that domestic manufacturing, employment and investment have increased. However, he acknowledged that many Americans have not yet fully felt the economic impact in their personal finances. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the President would argue that the Republican Party is better positioned to address the economic concerns of ordinary citizens.

She added that with three more years of Trump in the White House and a Republican majority on Capitol Hill, the administration aims to restore the American Dream, which she claimed had weakened during the four years of Joe Biden and the Democrats.
