Washington/Tel Aviv(The Uttam Hindu)-: Amid the ongoing military confrontation between the United States and Iran, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has made a strong statement. He said Tuesday could prove to be the most severe day so far for Iran and that American attacks would be intensified further.

Speaking to reporters at the Pentagon, Hegseth said the strongest attacks so far would be carried out on Iran. He said the number of missiles fired by Iran in the last 24 hours was the lowest so far, indicating that its ability to strike is weakening, although Tehran is still saying it will continue the conflict.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also adopted a hard line. He said Israel is continuously weakening Iran’s military strength. Netanyahu also said the aim of the war is to remove Iran’s current ruling system and free the people there from oppression.

Tension rises in the region

Amid the conflict, tension has also increased in the Gulf region. The Qatar Ministry of Defence said its air defence system destroyed a missile heading toward Qatar while it was still in the air. After this, citizens were advised to remain indoors as a precaution. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates has also fully activated its air defence system in view of the threat of possible attacks from Iran. Meanwhile, an Iranian security official has also issued a warning to US President Donald Trump.

Different signals on the war

Trump’s statements have also created global concern. He has given different signals regarding the duration of the war, creating an atmosphere of uncertainty. Because of this, sharp fluctuations were seen in international oil prices and stock markets. Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has rejected reports claiming that Iran was seeking a ceasefire. He clearly said Tehran has not made any request for a ceasefire.

America’s three main military targets

On the other hand, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine also made a major statement on the war. He said the campaign against Iran has now entered its 11th day and three main objectives have been set for the American military. According to General Caine, the first goal is to completely destroy Iran’s missile capability. The second objective is to weaken its navy, and the third goal is to carry out action deep inside Iran’s military bases. His statement indicates that in the coming days, the United States may intensify its military campaign against Iran even further.
