Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): During the past few hours, earthquake tremors were felt in Tibet, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh of India. These continuous tremors spread panic among the people, however, it is a matter of relief that no major damage has been reported so far. The intensity of the earthquake was measured at 4.0 in Tibet, 4.6 in Pakistan, 4.3 in Afghanistan, 2.8 in Shimla and 3.7 in Leh respectively. All these areas are considered seismically sensitive, due to which the administration has appealed to the people to remain alert.


Tremors felt in Tibet and neighboring countries

The epicenter of the 4.0 magnitude earthquake in Tibet was in the mountainous region. The tremors were felt lightly and no damage was reported. The local administration has advised people to stay in safe places as a precaution. Earthquakes of 4.6 magnitude were recorded in Pakistan and 4.3 magnitude in Afghanistan. The tremors were felt in northern Pakistan and rural areas of Afghanistan. The administrations of both the countries have given instructions to keep an eye on the seismic activities.


Earthquakes also occurred in India.

A 2.8 magnitude earthquake struck Shimla, Himachal Pradesh at around 1 a.m. on October 22, 2025. Its epicenter was at a depth of approximately 5 km. The tremors were mild and felt by locals, but no damage was reported. Meanwhile, a 3.7 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Leh Ladakh on the afternoon of October 21, 2025. Its epicenter was at a depth of approximately 90 km. Its impact was limited in the mountainous region and no damage was reported.
