33 Killed in Israel's Latest Gaza Airstrike, Tensions Escalate

New Delhi (Uttam Hindu): At least 33 Palestinians have lost their lives in Israel's latest air strikes in the Gaza Strip. Hospital officials gave this information on Sunday. According to the Israeli army, in the last 24 hours it targeted more than 130 locations in the conflict-torn Gaza region.
According to the information, this development has taken place at a time when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is about to leave for the US to discuss the possibilities of ceasefire, where he will hold talks with President Donald Trump at the White House. Trump has presented an initial plan for a ceasefire in Gaza, which proposes a 60-day ceasefire. Under this, there is talk of releasing some people held captive by Hamas in exchange for increasing humanitarian aid. The aim of this plan is to start talks towards permanently ending the 21-month-long war. According to Mohammad Abu Selmiya, director of Shifa Hospital, Gaza city's main medical center, two residential buildings in Gaza city were targeted in Israeli attacks, killing 20 people and injuring 25 others.
At the same time, officials at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis area of southern Gaza said that 13 Palestinians were killed in Israeli bombing in an area called Muwasi. Muwasi is an area where a large number of displaced people are living in tents. The Israeli army confirmed the attacks and said that it targeted Hamas command and control centers, weapons storage sites and military bases. According to the army, several terrorists were killed in northern Gaza. However, the army has not made any clear comment on the number of civilian casualties. The situation remains serious and the eyes of the international community are now fixed on the possible ceasefire talks in Washington.
