Dhaka (Uttam Hindu News): Even after the change of government in Bangladesh, atrocities against minority Hindus continue unabated. The latest incident occurred in Dumaria village in Pirojpur district, where extremists targeted Hindu homes and set them on fire. It is alleged that the attackers even tried to burn one victim alive after locking him inside.

Fire started by throwing clothes, everything burnt to ashes

According to local reports and News18, the incident occurred on December 27th. The attackers allegedly set fire to clothes in a room, which quickly spread throughout the house. The house reportedly belonged to the Saha family (Palash Kanti Saha, Shiv Saha, Deepak Saha, Shyamalendu Saha, and Ashok Saha).

Everything in the house, including furniture, cash, land documents, and educational certificates, was destroyed in the arson. A day earlier, five homes belonging to two families were also burned in West Dumriatala village.

'Jihadis want to burn Hindus while they are sleeping'

Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen reacted sharply to this brutal incident. On the social media platform X, she wrote, "Five rooms of the Saha family's home in Dumritola village, Pirojpur, were burned down by anti-Hindu jihadists. The fire was set while everyone was asleep."

Taking aim at Bangladesh's interim government chief Mohammad Yunus, Taslima asked, "Will all the remaining Hindu homes in the country be burned down like this? They want to burn Hindus alive, so they set fire while they sleep. Is Yunus just playing the flute?"

The same pattern was repeated in Chattogram

It's worth noting that this method of attack isn't new. Last week, unknown assailants set fire to a Hindu family's home near the southeastern city of Chattogram. The doors were also locked from the outside, preventing the family from escaping. In that incident, eight family members managed to escape by cutting through tin walls and bamboo fences, but their pets perished in the blaze.
