United Nations (The Uttam Hindu): India has strongly condemned Pakistan at the United Nations, describing it as the “primary source of terror, violence, fanaticism, intolerance, and extremism”. India also demanded that Pakistan immediately stop the “grave and ongoing human rights violations” in the part of Jammu and Kashmir illegally occupied by it.

NK Premachandran, Member of Parliament from Kerala’s Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), made these remarks during a session of the UN General Assembly’s Special Committee on Decolonization. He stated, “Pakistan is the main source of terror, violence, fanaticism, intolerance, and extremism. In April this year, terrorists trained and sponsored by Pakistan brutally killed 26 innocent civilians in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.”

He further exposed Pakistan’s brutal oppression in the occupied areas of Kashmir, highlighting that the neighboring country continues to violate UN Security Council Resolution 47, adopted in April 1948.

Premachandran urged Pakistan to end the “serious and continuous human rights abuses” in the territories under its illegal occupation. “People there are openly revolting against Pakistan’s military occupation, repression, cruelty, and the illegal exploitation of their resources,” he said. “In recent weeks alone, the Pakistani army and its supporters have killed several innocent civilians who were peacefully demanding their basic rights and freedom.”

It is noteworthy that during recent protests, Pakistani forces allegedly opened fire on demonstrators, killing more than 12 people. Responding to Pakistan’s recent statements regarding India and Kashmir, Premachandran said that those remarks were irrelevant to the Fourth Committee’s agenda or mandate.

He added, “It is ironic that a country notorious for using terrorism as a tool of state policy is attempting to accuse the world’s largest democracy. Pakistan, with its history of military dictatorships, sham elections, arrests of popular leaders, religious extremism, and state-sponsored terrorism, has no moral right to lecture others on democracy or human rights.”

Reaffirming India’s stance, Premachandran concluded, “Jammu and Kashmir is, and will always remain, an integral and inseparable part of India.”
